BIOGRAPHY
Asiia Garipova, born on May 21, 1996 in Ufa (Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia), comes from a distinguished Bashkir family of musicians. Her grandmother, singer Nazhija Chibatovna Allajarova, and her grandfather, composer Abrar Chakovich Gabdrakhmanov, shaped the artistic heritage that continues in the family. Her sister, soprano Dilyara Idrisova, performs internationally.
Asiia discovered the violin at the age of four and soon showed exceptional promise: at eight, she made her debut as a soloist with the Ufa Philharmonic Orchestra. She completed her early studies in 2014 at the Ufa State Music College.
She went on to graduate with a gold medal from the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg before receiving the prestigious Maria Pavlovna Scholarship from the Gartow Foundation, which allowed her to continue her studies in Germany at the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar.
In 2024, Asiia completed her master’s degree with distinction at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg under Prof. Tanja Becker-Bender and is currently pursuing her Konzertexamen.
In spring 2025 she performed Sofia Gubaidulina’s Violin Concerto No. 1 Offertorium as a soloist with the University Symphony Orchestra (HSO) in the Friedrich-Ebert-Saal and at the HfMT Forum. She also had the profound honor of performing at the funeral of the legendary composer Sofia Gubaidulina at Ohlsdorf Cemetery in Hamburg.
In October 2025 she continued her artistic engagement with Gubaidulina’s music, appearing as soloist in the composer’s Impromptu for violin and flute with string orchestra in the Great Hall of the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, together with the Beethoven Orchester.
As an internationally active musician, Asiia has performed at festivals such as Neuköllner Originaltöne (Berlin), Summer Music Academy (Prague), International Music Sessions (Bergen, Netherlands), Ligeti – Im Ensemble!(Hamburg), and Hamburg Contemporary. She has also toured the Netherlands with the Bell Trio.
A prizewinner of numerous national and international competitions, Asiia has received many scholarships and awards, among them the President’s Prize of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Russian Young Talents Program, and support from the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation, as well as scholarships from the DAAD, the Lucia Thörl Foundation, and the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation.
Asiia performs both as a soloist and in various chamber music formations. In 2019 she co-founded the Duo with guitarist Valeria Galimova, and in 2021 the duo AssaiMovere with accordionist Mihail Cunetchi.
